Hi, I'm Michael.

I'm an IT and business systems consultant based in Perth. My background sits between technology, business analysis and project delivery.

I've spent much of my career working inside growing businesses, understanding how teams actually work and improving the systems and processes behind them.

I particularly enjoy the point where business problems and technology meet — whether that's implementing a system, fixing something that isn't working, simplifying a process or helping a team make good use of new tools such as AI.

After around seven years in a UK renewable energy business, where I ultimately led IT & Systems, I now work independently with businesses that need experienced support without necessarily hiring someone full-time.

02 / SELECTED EXPERIENCE

From business need to working solution.

Before working independently, I spent around seven years with Locogen, a renewable energy developer, consultancy and asset manager, ultimately leading its IT & Systems function.

That meant working across Finance, Operations, Sales, HR, Project Delivery, Consultancy and Asset Management — not just managing technology in isolation.

    Led a project management system rollout for a 40-person consultancy

    From configuration and rollout to improving how teams plan work, record time, manage resources and track delivery.

  2. 02

    Delivered business systems projects across multiple departments

    Worked on HubSpot, Dynamics 365 Business Central, HR systems and Microsoft 365 — bringing together requirements, stakeholders and implementation.

  3. 03

    Built reporting around the questions that matter to a business

    Created Power BI reporting across sales, projects, finance and people data, covering areas such as pipeline, utilisation, project performance and billing.

    Connected systems and removed repetitive administration

    Designed SharePoint and Power Automate workflows, including project file setup and integrations that keep information moving between teams.

    Improved the foundations behind day-to-day IT

    Led improvements to Microsoft 365, identity and access, device management and practical technology governance.

    Introduced a practical approach to AI

    Developed AI readiness guidance and policy, and explored internal knowledge and workflow use cases with a focus on genuine business value.

I understand the technology, but just as importantly, I understand how a business actually operates.
